The Massachusetts Gaming Authority (MGA) has declared that any firm looking to apply for a sports wagering permit must send a statement of purpose by the end of August. This statement is not a formal application, and not submitting it will not prevent a company from applying at a later date.
The MGA aims to gauge the number of companies interested in obtaining a permit. They stated that the statement of purpose will assist them in understanding the level of interest in sports betting licenses.
This declaration follows Governor Charlie Baker’s signing of the Massachusetts Sports Betting Act on August 10th, legalizing sports wagering in the state and assigning the MGA oversight of the new market.
