The Global Tennis Integrity Agency (GTIA) has temporarily put a hold on Argentine competitor Nicolás Arreche. This is while they wait for the results of an inquiry into accusations of dishonesty.
Arreche is prohibited from taking part in or being present at any official tennis competitions. This includes those organized by the sport’s governing organizations. The suspension is in effect right away.
The GTIA hasn’t disclosed specific details regarding the case. However, they are examining suspected breaches of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP).
According to the TACP 2021, a player’s ability to compete can be suspended during an investigation. This is outlined in Section F.3.
Arreche is currently ranked 612th globally in singles. This ranking is based on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
This temporary suspension follows the GTIA’s imposition of a 10-year ban earlier this month. The ban was given to Kazakh competitor Roman Khassanov. He admitted to multiple match-fixing offenses.
These incidents occurred between 2014 and 2018. They violated the TACP.
