AstroPay, a financial technology firm, is proudly sponsoring the Ukrainian contingent at this year’s Maccabiah Games, an international athletic competition for Jewish competitors and Israeli nationals often likened to the Olympics.
Anticipated to draw over 10,000 participants from 80 nations, the Games will feature competition in over 40 sports. The Ukrainian delegation, undeterred by the ongoing conflict, will send 36 determined athletes – 23 women and 13 men. Hailing from various Ukrainian cities, each athlete carries the aspirations of their nation as they prepare to exhibit their talents on a global platform.
Mikael Lijtenstein, AstroPay’s Chief Executive Officer, conveyed deep satisfaction in backing the Ukrainian team during these difficult circumstances. He recognized the historical importance of the Maccabiah Games and stressed the significance of supporting the Ukrainian representatives.
Held quadrennially in Israel, the Maccabiah Games are being hosted in Tel Aviv this year. Further amplifying the excitement, the 2022 Games will witness the first-ever attendance of a sitting US President.
Commander-in-Chief Biden conveyed well wishes to the over 1,400 United States competitors participating in the current year’s competition, a larger group than even the previous year’s remarkable Olympic delegation. The competition will conclude with a final ceremony on July 25th.
In separate developments, Ukraine and Lithuania are solidifying their relationship. The nations’ gaming regulatory bodies recently formalized a cooperative agreement.
