Betsson has secured an agreement to become the primary sponsor of AEK Basketball Club, signifying a major advancement in their collaboration.
In celebration of its 60th anniversary, Betsson has elevated its role from “top-tier sponsor” to “title sponsor.” This change means the team will now be recognized as AEK Betsson Basketball Club.
The news was jointly revealed by Betsson and AEK Betsson Basketball Club on October 12th during a special gathering at the Athens Metro Mall. The event showcased a nostalgic review of the partnership’s achievements, including their combined contribution of €100,000 to aid earthquake recovery efforts in Turkey.
AEK Betsson Basketball Club Chairman, Makis Angelopoulos, conveyed his excitement about the agreement, noting that it “initiates a fresh and promising phase in our path, one where our strengths are united to accomplish even grander feats.” He also expressed appreciation for Betsson’s steadfast backing, emphasizing the beneficial influence it has had on the team’s development and pursuit of greatness.
This action comes as Betsson continues to broaden its international reach. They recently entered the French market through partnerships with local enterprises and have also expanded their collaboration with Pragmatic Play to deliver live casino content for the Swedish gaming provider.
Betsson’s financial results in the second quarter of 2023 were robust, with income increasing by 27% to reach €2.368 billion. This partnership with AEK Basketball Club further reinforces their dedication to expansion and progress.
Despite fluctuations in active participants on the Betsson platform throughout the initial six months of 2023, their revenue surged by 29% in comparison to the corresponding period in 2022.
