The Australian media watchdog, ACMA, is taking strong measures against unlawful internet gambling. They have directed internet service providers to restrict access to 18 websites operating illicitly within the nation.
These sites, including brands like Syndicate Casino and iLucki, garnered numerous complaints. The ACMA conducted an investigation and determined they were in breach of Australian regulations. They strongly advise anyone utilizing these platforms to withdraw funds immediately.
This is not the first instance of such action from the ACMA. Since 2019, they have blocked access to over 200 illicit gambling websites. Their endeavors appear to be yielding results, as over 100 unlicensed gambling entities have ceased operations in Australia since stricter rules were implemented in 2017.
The ACMA aims to safeguard Australians from the risks of unlawful gambling by blocking these websites.
During the month of November, the Australian regulatory body overseeing communications and media, the ACMA, issued a reminder to gambling entities operating within the country regarding advertising regulations. It appears that certain operators exhibited a lack of clarity concerning the specifics, prompting the ACMA to intervene and implement a block on select advertisements to ensure absolute transparency.
