This agreement will make 1X2 Network’s portfolio accessible on Skywind’s platform in Romania, encompassing well-known platforms such as princesscasino.ro, cashpot.ro, and luck.com.ro. Skywind Group is actively seeking to broaden its footprint in Romania, and this collaboration is a crucial element of that strategy. They have already partnered with other providers like Thunderkick, with Thunderkick’s Head of Sales, Fredrik Ekholm, describing Romania as a “pivotal market” poised for expansion.
The Romanian gambling sector has been experiencing significant activity recently with numerous partnerships between operators and vendors. There have been announcements from companies such as Octoplay, Superbet, BGaming, and WinBet, among others. Moreover, Imagine Live is even establishing a new live casino studio in Bucharest, highlighting Romania’s growing appeal within the industry.
Ana-Maria Baciu, a legal expert specializing in intellectual property rights and a participant in the Romanian National Association of Intellectual Property Attorneys, stated that “between 2016 and the present, the regulatory body in Romania has awarded approximately 475 Class II permits to providers within the gaming sector… Among these, software/game vendors possess between 140 and 150 permits, with roughly 25 being granted in 2023 alone.” She emphasized that the market maintains its dynamism despite modifications to licensing charges in October 2023.
