Down Under is getting tough on wagering. The New South Wales Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA) has issued Crown Resort an ultimatum: shape up by April’s end or say goodbye to its Sydney gaming establishment. This follows a scathing report by retired NSW Supreme Court Justice Patricia Bergin, deeming the company unsuitable to retain its casino permit. Crown is facing mounting pressure to reform its practices, with the ILGA emphasizing their commitment to holding the company responsible.
Simultaneously, Senet, a prominent Australian consultancy firm, has recognized the changing landscape and is introducing two novel compliance accreditations: Senet Assure and Senet Assure Premium. This initiative comes in the wake of heightened scrutiny of the Australian gambling sector, including cautions from the NSW Crime Commission regarding potential threats to the national economy. These certifications are being presented as a mechanism for operators to demonstrate accountability and proactive measures to safeguard all stakeholders.
Paul Newson, a Senet regulatory and gaming specialist, stressed that these certifications are not mere formalities. Only those operators exhibiting the utmost diligence will be awarded the accreditation, establishing a new benchmark for the industry.
