The Spanish gaming firm, Codere, has formally debuted in Colombia with its online platform, Codere.com.co. This launch comes shortly after Codere secured its fifth online gaming permit from the Colombian gaming authority, Colijuegos.

The authorization, which amounted to almost $7 million USD for Codere, will remain effective for a period of five years. This allows the enterprise to provide online wagering on sports and casino amusements to Colombian patrons via mobile platforms and at diverse physical venues.

Codere intends to broaden its current physical footprint in Colombia, where it has managed betting establishments, bingo facilities, and casinos for over three decades under the “Codere Apuestas” brand.

Colombia was the inaugural nation in Latin America to establish regulations for online gambling. Subsequently, Colijuegos has granted three licenses to domestic operators, but Codere’s entry marks it as only the second foreign entity to obtain an online casino and sports betting permit.

Juan B. Perez, the head of Colijuegos, has indicated that the regulatory body anticipates issuing a minimum of two additional licenses before the years end.
